Zoning Committee
The WBNA Zoning Committee knows that architecture, design, and land use are central to a neighborhood’s success. That’s why we work to improve the overall quality of life in West Bucktown through well-planned, orderly, and beneficial development and preservation of its physical spaces.
Our committee is in charge of evaluating zoning change requests and making recommendations to the Alderman; advocating targeted commercial development of our arterial boundary streets; and working with residents, developers, business owners, and city leaders to ensure positive growth and integrity to the needs of the neighborhood.
Zoning Committee meetings are typically held on the last Wednesday of each month at 6:30 pm at Alderman Moreno's Office, 2058 N. Western Avenue Chicago, IL 60647. These meetings are open to all West Bucktown residents and interested parties; however, only appointed Committee members are able to vote on proposals.
We're always looking for a few good urban planners, business owners, architects, visionaries and land geeks to join our team! If you're looking to get involved, email us at [email protected].

For Developers
Zoning change requests for properties located in the West Bucktwon jurisdiction (bordered by North, California, Armitage, and Western) must be reviewed by the WBNA Zoning Committee. Applicants for zoning change requests should plan to appear before the Zoning Committee to present their proposal using the information and materials outlined in the two documents below.
All zoning change request materials must be submitted a minimum of one week in advance of the next scheduled Zoning Committee meeting (typically held the last Wednesday of the month). Depending on the size and scope of the proposal, a Community Meeting might also be needed to solicit additional input from surrounding property owners.
The Zoning Committee takes all of this information into account when making its recommendations for proposed zoning changes to Alderman Joe Moreno in the 1st Ward Office.
