Environmental Committee
The mission of the WBNA Environmental Committee is to foster a sense of “green pride” and collective ownership in the beautification of West Bucktown, while encouraging recreational and responsible use of all area parks and outdoor spaces.
And we’ve been busy! In the past several years, we organized several neighborhood clean-ups ("Clean & Greens"), helped with park planting and maintenance efforts, partnered with our friends at the Maplewood & Lucy Flower Parks Advisory Council to officially launch the Lucy Flower Garden Club, and built and installed raised vegetable and flower beds at Lucy Flower.
We advocated and raised funds to support the establishment of The 606 in 2015, and there are three access points within the neighborhood boundary (at California, Rockwell, and Western).
The Lucy Flower Park renovation project was completed in 2014, and the Maplewood Park Fieldhouse Renovation is currently underway.
We will continue advocating for and supporting parkway tree plantings, the establishment of a West Bucktown Garden Walk and West Bucktown Community Garden.
We’re always looking for a few good environmentalists and outdoor enthusiasts to join our team! If you’re looking to get involved, email us at [email protected].
