The mission of the WBNA Environmental Committee is to foster a sense of “green pride” and collective ownership in the beautification of West Bucktown, while encouraging recreational and responsible use of all area parks and outdoor spaces.
And we’ve been busy! In the past several years, we organized several neighborhood clean-ups ("Clean & Greens"), helped with park planting and maintenance efforts, partnered with our friends at the Maplewood & Lucy Flower Parks Advisory Council to officially launch the Lucy Flower Garden Club, and built and installed raised vegetable and flower beds at Lucy Flower.
Going forward, we will continue to advocate on behalf of these and other green initiatives, including development of the Bloomingdale Trail, parkway tree plantings, the Lucy Flower Park renovation project, and the establishment of a West Bucktown Garden Walk and West Bucktown Community Garden.
We’re always looking for a few good environmentalists and outdoor enthusiasts to join our team! If you’re looking to get involved, email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
